Who are we?

Local artist Michelle Dahl founded Career Creatives with the goal of empowering, educating, and connecting artists and creatives in the Sacramento region who want to establish a strong, sustainable business around their creative endeavors.  Sacramento is home to a sizable creative community, yet we often feel like a collection of isolated islands. Many artists leave the region for more fiscally supportive cities.  The goal of Career Creatives is to strengthen the creative community in Sacramento by strengthening its individual creators, create a supportive environment for artists, and give the arts community the leverage to advocate for more infrastructure and equitable pay.

Monthly Events - PAUSED

Third Thursdays Sacramento

On the 3rd Thursday of every month, guest speakers share expertise to help creatives gain business knowledge and build their community.   We rotate the location to highlight local art spaces and  connect the artists and resources within the region.

May 13th, 2023

Our very first live event, held at The CLARA Auditorium, was a huge success! Tristan of Awfully Great Design, Co. created a Goals worksheet that we used to assist creatives in setting clear goals, defining boundaries, and creating detailed plans to achieve their aspirations. The panelists shared insightful tales of their professional struggles and how to overcome failure. We also discussed the value of having a positive self-image and how to be your own best advocate in business. We had the chance to have one-on-one conversations with audience members to address their unique concerns, develop understanding, and forge bonds. Panelists included Michelle Dahl, Juliet Rodriquez, Laurelin Gilmore, Mario Lopez, Mari Padilla, and Tristan Rumery. The seminar ended with a free website giveaway.

The response has been inspiring and we cannot wait for the next round!
